"We know as collectors and respected autograph dealers the most important thing about the items we buy, sell, or trade is authenticity. While the quality and origin are factored into the value, authenticity is by far the number one issue of any signed piece. As owner of a small gallery I have made it my business to recognize the signatures of any item I did not have signed myself to make a more secure purchase. Many companies issue C.O.A.s or Letters of Authenticity on the items they sell. While this is a good practice, insuring your purchase by having a third party (unbiased) professional authenticator review them is a must. By doing so you are not only assuring it is real, you are providing yourself and your customer the providence of someone who really knows. I began using P.A.A.S. (Professional Autograph Authentication Services in 2005 and have never stopped since. I was able to visit there facility in 2006 and was so impressed with their knowledge and huge collection of exemplars and signed pieces (not for sale) as well as witnessing the time and research put into confirming my newly purchased items were genuine.
